Our team of nearly 30 is growing rapidly in line with our business expansion and we are now on the hunt for a bright, enthusiastic and highly motivated person to be our first People & Workplace Manager to support this growth.

The role is broad, no day will be the same and you will deal with everyone in the company from the CEO to interns. This is an interesting role, suiting someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and with a high degree of responsibility. As this is a newly created role, there is significant scope for the successful candidate to shape the role and to adapt and grow with the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Development of:
    • Compensation and benefits plan for the organisation; and
    • Performance management framework
  • Scoping, selecting and implementing a new HR system
  • Developing a workplace strategy (post Covid restrictions)
  • HR administration, including:
    • Joiner / leaver / change processes
    • Visa management
    • Maintenance of HR records
    • Administering leave policy
  • HR advisory / business partnering
  • The smooth running of the office environment, ensuring that the team have the right space and practical tools they need to do their jobs effectively, including:
    • Liaison with property managers and maintenance contractors
    • Purchase of IT hardware, stationery and other office consumables
    • Telecoms and IT liaison with third party support
    • Ensure we are abiding by health and safety regulations
    • Managing and monitoring training for health & safety, GDPR and information security
    • Organising staff socials when Covid-19 measures allow

Required Skills and Experience:

To be considered for the role, candidates will be expected to have the following:

  • Previous HR Generalist Management experience
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to assist in all HR matters
  • An up-to-date knowledge of employment law (although external advice will be available for more complex issues)
  • Ideally CIPD Qualified or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle personnel matters with tact and discretion
  • Confidence in liaising directly with board members and the Senior Leadership Team

Job summary:

Remuneration: £35-40k FTE dependent on experience

Job type: Permanent, part time 2.5-3 days per week (with a preference for hours to be spread across the week)

Office location: Summertown, Oxford

Flexible working: The company will operate a flexible / hybrid model once restriction are lifted, but due to the office management elements of the role, some time working in the office will be required each week

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

Start Date: May 2021
